Access to Finance (A2F)
A new scheme has been launched in the East Midlands aimed at helping entrepreneurs raise finance to help their businesses grow. Access to Finance (A2F), an initiative funded by East Midlands Development Agency (emda), will open up the investment markets of London and the South East to companies seeking finance in the region. It will particularly help early stage, high growth and technology-based firms requiring up to £2 million of funding. The Fund is interested to hear from entrepreneurs and businesses with compelling business propositions, some element of innovation or first-mover advantage and clear growth potential, across all sectors. Business Link Grants to help small companies become environmentally friendly
Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the East Midlands could now be eligible for a £10,000 grant to help reduce their energy costs and environmental impact through East Midlands Development Agency’s (emda’s) resource efficiency campaign. Launched last November, the campaign has already resulted in 250 companies contacting Business Link to find out how they can save money and improve their environmental credentials. Some of these have now been awarded resource efficiency grants to help reduce energy and raw material costs and look at ways of improving recycling activities. The grant funding will provide up to 50% of the cost of changes, the balance being met by the business. All grants are subject to businesses meeting certain criteria. Coalfields Enterprise Fund
The Coalfields Enterprise Fund has been established to finance growth-orientated companies and encourage entrepreneurship in England’s former coalfield areas. The fund provides risk finance in the range of £40,000 to £500,000 in the form of equity, with preference share capital and loans, and follow on finance is available.
